I'm hayley.

I'm an artist, illustrator, designer, geologist, & science communicator.

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, I now live in Kimberley—a small mountain town at the confluence of the Purcell and Rocky Mountains in the East Kootenays of British Columbia. Trained as a field geologist, I now work as a science illustrator and creative director at Fenwood Creative, where I bring interpretive and educational stories to life through writing and illustration.

This science background, fed by deep fascination with geological and biological processes, materials, and deep time, strongly shapes my art practice. Alongside this I have an immense interest in the psychology and darker corners of the human experience. My work lives at the intersection of these worlds, where I explore the relationships between natural systems, and human experience, and the threads that connect them.

My art practice is wide-ranging, from large-scale installations and murals to intricate embroidery to digital illustration. A common material thread through my practice is an interest in upcycling, mixed mediums, and working with found materials to play with form, function, and interactivity and upend our preconceived notions of what things are and aren't.
